Sequenza is the website of the British singer Steve Halfyard and the writer and academic Janet K Halfyard who are, perhaps surprisingly (and a little schizophrenically), the same person performing and working under two slightly different names.
Steve is a soprano who specializes in extended vocal technique, although she has sung music from musicals to opera and is a member of the City of Birmingham Symphony Chorus. In recent years, most of her solo work has been with British electroacoustic composers such as Joseph Hyde, Simon Emmerson and Ed Bennett.
Janet is a senior lecturer at Birmingham Conservatoire, a faculty of the University of Central England in the West Midlands, United Kingdom. She is a specialist in 20th century music, particularly the avant garde music theatre works of the 1960s and 70s, and also has a major interest in film music. She lectures on these subjects and on contemporary performance practice.
